March Craftivity
This week, we worked on drawing shamrocks to get ready for St. Patrick's Day! Students created lots of different sized shamrocks to decorate our bulletin board.
Readers' Workshop
In reading, we are working on becoming Super Smart about our World! Students are learning strategies to read nonfiction books. We are also reviewing readers' workshop expectations and set some goals to help improve our reading stamina. We have a cool new Book Worm Award for those readers who set high but achievable goals, and persist in meeting them!
First Grade Math
In math, we finished up our unit of study on addition and subtraction strategies and had fun learning about equations with three addends!
Fundations
In spelling, we are wrapping up our work with am, an and all. On Thursday, we played a fun game called Roll and Write to help us learn our new trick words!
Writing dictated sentences has been a goal for us. We are working on proper use of capital letters, spacing and use of punctuation.
Punctuation Inquiry
After February break we began a short inquiry into punctuation. We are learning about what each punctuation mark means, and have worked hard to write different examples. Each child is creating a amazing Punctuation Mentor Text to keep in their writing folder.
Friday Outdoor Fun!
We had such a fun time today! So much persistence, kindness and of course FUN in the SUN...although we were missing some of our friends today.
