Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to all the families who came out to meet with me for a conference! It was wonderful meeting you all and getting to share your child's work.

Robtoy Farm Field Trip
We had such a great time visiting the farm on Thursday! We made great connections between our natural resources and the food we eat and products we use each day. This field trip helped us to see what life was like on a farm long ago.

Readers' Workshop
We wrapped up our first bend in Readers' Workshop: Building Good Reading Habits. Students will have special book mark in their reading bags which has all of the skills we have learned. Students will set specific goals to improve their reading based on the topics we have covered so far.  I worked with several small reading groups. Ms. Marie also works with students throughout the day to reteach and practice specific skills. Up next, Habits for Tackling Tricky Words.

These kiddos are doing such a great job reading at home each night! So many students have filled up their reading logs! They are so proud!

Writers' Workshop
In writing, we pulled interesting leads from our favorite mentor texts and tried them out in our own stories. We learned about revision and how authors often go back and add onto a story to make it better. We really enjoy sharing time at the end of writers' workshop!

Big Buddies
We continued with our work on persistence with our Big Buddies. This week, we spent time solving our favorite puzzle. Up next, Managing Impulsivity!

First Grade Math
In  math we used our Smart Board to practice some of our math stations. We applied our prior knowledge about measuring with popsicle sticks to measuring with unifix cubes. It was so amazing to hear these kiddos talk and figure out the connections between each unit of measure. We also finished up Unit 1 in math and took our assessment.

Technology
Students are using our Chromebooks almost each day now. We are getting better each day at a logging on! The first graders play Prodigy during math time and the second graders work on Reflex math. On Friday we practice our keyboard skills. Students are learning to navigate the keyboard and to use the home row. We noticed that the j and f keys have a small bump on the keys to help us find them each time.
