Roald Dahl Museum
Visit the beloved children's author Roald Dahl museum. He wrote many books, some of which were made into movies, such as James and The Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, and more. You can see how the room looked in which he wrote these great stories and explore some parts of the movie sets.

How do you feel after taking your virtual ride on a roller coaster?
Did you know that some people work all day at designing roller coasters as their job? They are called Mechanical Engineers. Some of the abilities that you need for this type of job are;
math skills
ability to problem solve
creativity
technical skills
good at working as a team
Who knows, maybe you might make the newest and coolest roller coaster when you grow up.
What would you call it?
What would it look like?
Ready to give making your own roller coaster a try?
Follow the links below for videos that show you how to make a roller coaster out of materials you may have around your house, or just draw one on paper. Take a picture of your roller coaster creation and share it with your teacher!

Design your Own Coin:
If you could create your own coin, what would it look like, what would it be made of, and how much would it be worth?
Counting Practice and Other Ideas:
Find change around the house to count. Check the couch, laundry room, your car and around your bedroom for any change that you could count. You can count just nickels by 5’s or dimes by 10’s or mix them all up and challenge yourself.
You could count your parents bottles if you have any and bring them back to the store for money.
Library Bingo
This is our last week for library bingo. I will take the results I get by Monday the 8th and send out the stickers, etc. Be sure to share with me pictures, titles of books, or what you did to get the bingo. I love seeing all of the creative ideas.
If you have a library book that you checked out in the spring we will be scheduling some times you can return them along with any other items from school. I will send out more information as those dates and times are scheduled.
Thank you, enjoy your week.

Smithsonian National Zoo Virtual Field Trip
The Smithsonian National Zoo has six live cameras that let you see what is happening in different habitats across the zoo! Here is your job as you take this virtual field trip:
Grades PreK-2: Play this “I Spy” game and see if you can find all of the pictures! When you’re finished, cut and sort the pictures into groups (i.e. food, water, shelter, enrichment or create your own groups).
Grades 3rd-6th: Check out at least two different live cams. Notice the different things you see in the habitats (i.e. the hay or the paintbrushes in the elephants’ habitat). Think about the purpose of the items you see, asking yourself: “What does each part do or provide for the animals?” and “How is each part helpful to the animals?” Use this sheet to record your thinking or take notes on your own.
BONUS: If you have extra time, play Zoo Bingo!
