Technology Update
I am hoping to begin computer handling, care and safety with the first and second graders soon. We are still waiting for our computer cases and chargers. When those supplies come in, and students have demonstrated computer safety, we will begin taking home our laptops. Our class will be using Seesaw! I have used this platform for years and really LOVE it!
PBIS Puzzle
This week, we uncovered more of our whole school PBIS puzzle. The first and second graders are working so hard and learning about our PAWS rules in class. We have a pretty good idea of what our whole school reward will be... :)
We are also making our own PAWS booklet in class. Students are working to brainstorm ideas, write and draw to show their thinking.
Art Class with Ms. Jenni
Readers' Workshop
This week, we took a reading survey to identify the genres of books we enjoy reading! Ms. Marie was an amazing book shopper and selected books for each child. During readers' workshop, we set our class expectations. Our class has worked to read words and pictures, stay in our reading spot the whole time, have a quiet voice and clean up and take care of our books. Each day we work to read for a bit longer. On Friday, each child got their own National Geographic magazines to keep in their book bags. Ms. Russin is also working with each child to do some early reading assessments. This will help us plan for upcoming reading and strategy groups.
Math Time
In math, we have begun working at our math stations! Each child has their own math tool kit with the materials they need. It is a bit different this year as we are not able to play games with each other but we are making the best of it!
We are enjoying our daily counting practice... so far we have counted forwards and backwards from 30, all the way to 120 and have learned a fun counting by 2s song! We made a popsicle graph and asked lots of questions like:
How many people voted for each popsicle, how many more people like cherry than orange and some kids even came up with their own questions.
Here are some photos from our stations!
